Flight characteristics.
| Results: |
| 1. |
a) |
The stationary engine runs with the mixing tube (Mischrohr) from the firm Klatte had a negative result.
At n = 2200 rpm flames had already appeared, which increased with increasing rpm and reached about 0.5 m in length with take-off power.
b) |
The glare shield should fulfill its purpose, protection of the pilot from glare from the
exhaust flames, after an extension of ~ 200 mm to the rear. |
| 2. |
As can be seen from the enclosed Graph, the lengthened glare screen results in a speed loss of 15 mph (24 km/h) at combat power.
The reduction in level speed with two ETC 50 (with the shortened fairing) per wing has already been substantially
reduced and is 6 mph (10 km/h) compared to 11 mph (18 km/h) when using the large fairing as per drawing 8-190.862 Z 0 1.
Removing the fairing entirely would be inadvisable, as the tests showed a further loss of 6 mph (10 km/h) would occur.
| 3. |
Regarding flight characteristics, no complaints were noted either with the glare shield or with the ETC 50, with or without
fairing. |
